Week 1: April 1–4
🌱 Soil Health and Garden Workshop
Thursday, April 2 | 11 AM–1 PM | Conservation Nebraska
A hands-on session covering what's actually going on beneath the surface of your garden and how to build healthier soil this growing season. Great for beginners and experienced growers alike.
⭐ How Omaha's Best Organizations Recycle and Compost — Free Morning Seminar at Hotel Indigo

Join our team for a free morning seminar on how recycling and composting programs actually work in Omaha — and ask the people who run them your questions. Great for businesses exploring waste diversion options.

Week 2: April 7–11
♻️ First Star Recycling Center Tour
Saturday, April 11 | 10 AM–12 PM | Conservation Nebraska
See where your recyclables actually go. First Star is where materials from across the metro get sorted and processed — including soft plastics from the Hefty ReNew program, which are shredded and compressed into board right here in Omaha.
Week 3: April 14–18
⭐ Earth Day in Bellevue
Sunday, April 19 | 11 AM–3 PM | Green Bellevue
Vendor expos, educational sessions, a clothing swap, scavenger hunt, and recycle relay. Green Bellevue partners with Hillside on lunchroom composting at Bellevue East and West and promotes the Compost Club for residential food scrap drop-off.

🌿 Earth Day at Mulhall's
Saturday, April 18 | 11 AM–2 PM | 3615 N 120th St, Omaha
Live music in the greenhouse, local food, and community partners focused on sustainability. Bring the family and stay for the plant ID quiz.
🦁 Party for the Planet @ Henry Doorly Zoo
Saturday, April 18 | 9 AM–2 PM | Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium
The zoo's annual Earth Day celebration hosted by Zoo Academy students. Sustainability market, educational booths, and a conservation scavenger hunt — all included with admission or membership.
Week 4: April 20–25
⭐ Curbside Compost Club - Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
Tuesday, April 20 | 10 AM | 8722 Woolworth Ave
Be a part of history as we officially launch Omaha’s new residential curbside composting service. Audrey of the Hillside Fund will host at her house, and friends of Hillside are welcome. Come learn about this new service straight from the creators. Parking is available on 88th Street between Williams and Hickory. Please RSVP to compostclub@hillside.solutions
🏡 Rethinking Your Lawn
Tuesday, April 21 | 6–7:30 PM | Conservation Nebraska
Alternatives to traditional turf that support pollinators, reduce water use, and still look great. Perfect for homeowners ready to try something different.

⭐ Earth Day Omaha at Elmwood Park
Saturday, April 25 | 11 AM–4 PM | Elmwood Park | FREE
The big one. In its 37th year, Earth Day Omaha is the metro's largest annual environmental event — 100+ green exhibitors, live music, food trucks, kids' activities, demos, and a beer garden. Hillside is a proud sponsor, and we need volunteers for zero waste stations.

Week 5: April 26+
🌾 Keep Cass County Beautiful Earth Day Celebration
Sunday, April 26 | 9 AM–12 PM | Behind Citizen's Bank, 2020 W 8th Ave, Plattsmouth
Free, single-use-plastic-free celebration with recycling demos, paper shredding, eco crafts, and free cookies for the first 75 people. Bring a reusable mug.
🌊 Riverfront Earth Day
Sunday, April 26 | Starting at Noon | Lewis & Clark Landing, Downtown Omaha
Local organizations line the riverfront promenade to share sustainability resources and practices. A low-key, family-friendly way to wrap up the month.
