While you can empty compostable items directly into the green carts that we service, if you’d like to use liners, we recommend BPI Certified compostable bags from Biobag or Naturbag. For ongoing purchases, Larsen Supply Co. may be cheaper than Amazon. Note: biodegradable bags are not the same as compostable.

All EnergyBag items must be in an EnergyBag in order to be recycled. 8-gallon size sold at Omaha grocery stores or Menard’s website. Commercial 30 & 55 gallon bags only available from First Star: Jeff Heck, jheck@firstarfiber.com, (402) 536-0648.

Plastic bags preferred and in some cases required.

While you can use plastic liners inside your bins to collect these materials, please do not place those plastic bags into our carts or dumpsters, as the recycling facility may landfill them. The exception to the rule: EnergyBag liners.
