Good news! Duchesne Academy reached its zero-waste goal. It’s the first Omaha-area school to do it. And according to our calculations, that’s 25 tons a year we’re helping them divert from the landfill. Also, OPPD has a new grant fund for eco-related projects. And if you have a non-profit, your office could get invaded by Verdis Group’s brightest minds for a day (for free) as they put together your net zero plan. You have until Feb. 3rd to apply.

Another grocery store is composting its food waste & recycling its glass! Trader Joe’s has joined neighbor Whole Foods in supporting local soil health. This means, whatever food waste can’t be donated through Saving Grace is now composted with us. Discover other eco-friendly food options in Omaha.
Blackburn Alternative High School
Another North Omaha school has joined the composting movement! Alongside Nelson Mandela & Sacred Heart, Blackburn Alternative High School now composts its cafeteria food waste while normalizing eco-practices in these impressionable teens. Here’s how to get your school composting.
Fontenelle Forest
While they have been recycling for a while, they are stepping up the quantity of material & giving their employees a break by letting us transport it on their behalf. 😆
Yates Illuminates
The story behind this former OPS school that almost got sold to developers keeps getting better. Alongside being a hub for local non-profits, they also signed up for our zero-waste services. They’ll be going all in on recycling & composting this spring.
Broadway United Methodist Church
We got our first Council Bluffs church to compost! Plus they’re also CB’s first Compost Club drop-off site — right in the heart of the downtown district. If you’re a Compost Clubber, you’ll be able to donate soil credits to their organic garden this spring.
Conagra Campus
Another Fortune 500 company has modernized its recycling program! Conagra’s Omaha campus has made the jump to dual-stream while updating indoor signage & bin colors. We’re recycling over 300 yards of material every month that used to go to the landfill. Here’s the guidebook they followed.
